Client: Fujifilm Diosynth
The refurbishment works within Blocks D & E of the Wilton Centre comprised the strip out of existing office accommodation and the creation of laboratories, associated office space, meeting rooms and WC’s.
The project was part of an overall partnership with Fujifilm manufacturing facilities based in the US. With such a high profile, internally and the requirement to attract new customers to develop their product research in the North East, the quality of delivery is of paramount importance. One of the two large laboratories is to be a ‘show lab’ to invite potential customers into.
Works included full M&E installations, including specialist pipework, hygienic wall panelling, cold rooms, flooring (vinyl and carpet tiles), suspended ceilings, escutcheon plate, Kotterman furniture installation and general loose furniture for office and meeting rooms.
These works have all been undertaken in the Wilton Centre, a previous ICI facility with an aging infrastructure. We worked closely with the Wilton Centre and Fujifilm to identify potential risks and issues that may occur during business operations. We took pragmatic steps to finding solutions and assisting in any way possible, whilst still maintaining our programme.

“AG Hill Chartered Building Services Engineers have worked successfully with Hightown Construction on several projects across the University spectrum. Hightown proved that they are very client orientated and non-contractual, open to advice and ideas from outside of their structure with a very flexible and progressive attitude to construction delivery, more akin to the partnering arrangements suggested by Latham as the ideal methodology with which to approach construction, as opposed to the more common adversarial method”.
