Fire Safety For All Sectors – BM Trada Q-Mark Certified Installations and Maintenance:

“A fire door is only a fire door if it has been correctly fitted.”

Regardless of sector, we understand that our clients have a duty of care to those who work or operate within their buildings. Fire door installations are designed to stop the spread of fire and save lives; it is vital that such doors are installed by accredited personnel. As a construction company that is committed to quality and ensuring client peace of mind we provide BM Trada Q-Mark certified products, installed by our accredited team.

Q-Mark Accreditation:

The BM TRADA Q-Mark is regarded as one of the most rigorous third party certification processes available for construction products. The BM TRADA Q Mark Scheme provides independent assurance to architects, enforcing authorities and building owners that doors sold and fitted under the scheme meet the specified technical and regulatory requirements.

“Fire doors save lives and protect property and as such it is vital that they are manufactured, installed, specified and checked correctly. BM TRADA offers comprehensive certification for timber fire doors, through its Q-Mark manufacturing and installation schemes. In January 2001 BM TRADA launched the installers scheme to complement the long-established manufacturing scheme. By completing the process, the installers’ scheme gives full peace of mind to the end customer.”

You’re responsible for fire safety in business or other non-domestic premises if you are:

  • an employer
  • the owner
  • the landlord
  • an occupier
  • anyone else with control of the premises, e.g. a facilities manager, building manager, managing agent or risk assessor

You’re known as the ‘responsible person’. If there’s more than one responsible person, you have to work together to meet your responsibilities.

As the responsible person you must:

  • Carry out a fire risk assessment of the premises and review it regularly
  • Tell staff or their representatives about the risks you’ve identified
  • Put in place, and maintain, appropriate fire safety measures
  • Plan for an emergency
  • Provide staff information, fire safety instruction and training

When building new premises, or doing building work on existing premises, you must comply with building regulations. This includes designing fire safety into the proposed building or extension. You could be fined or go to prison if you don’t follow fire safety regulations.
